A dental CBCT/3D Scan is a special type of x-ray that is used to see craniofacial structures that traditional x-rays do not adequately image. Think of it like cutting an apple in half to see the seeds and pit. A 3D Scan shows internal structures of the jaw such as nerve pathways, sinus /nasal structures and tooth / oral infections. 3D Scans are also vital for complex dental implant cases.
When trying to plan a difficult implant case with insufficient bone structure we have certain vital anatomical structures we must be aware of to try and avoid major surgical complications during and after oral surgery procedures.
